What’s On: August
All of our events take place in beautiful woodland at Grammarcombe Woods, Ashcombe Estate, near Exeter and we run many different events throughout the year for families with kids of all ages. We’ve got lots of fun happening in camp over the Summer, including our brand new term of Wild Tots Summer Club, Festival in the Forest, and Woodland Adventure Club. We’d love to see you and your family in the woods soon…
Festival in the Forest
Tickets £8 for adults and children over 18 months. Price includes refreshments (hot chocolate/ hot drinks & marshmallows) for all. Children under 18 months can attend free of charge with an older sibling, however if they are not with an older sibling, then you must book a ticket for them too. We require an adult-to-child ratio of 1 adult per 3 children booked. Do please get in touch if this causes you difficulty, as we certainly don’t want to exclude any larger families.
Woodland Adventure Club
Join us in the woods over the Summer for Holiday Club! We have spaces available throughout the Summer holidays on Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays 9am-5pm. £35 pp, book online for one or more days.
There’s so much to do, we can’t list it all – but this gives you an idea of the fun in store.
- Lighting campfires using fire steels
- Cooking over the campfire – from vegetarian choices to camping favourites
- Monkeying about in hammocks in our woodland playground
- Building great adventure dens and camps
- Exploring our new woodland treehouse
- Wild food foraging including what wild foods are safe to eat
- Making crafts from natural, sustainable materials
- Green woodwork skills
- Bushcraft skills and nature awareness
- Hunting for bugs and insects
- Tracking and watching wildlife
- Playing active outdoor games
- Listening to stories around the campfire
We are really pleased to announce that we are OFSTED registered and can accept childcare vouchers!
Wild Tots Summer Club
Our Wild Tots Summer Club starts 29th July with sessions running every Monday and Friday throughout the month. Suitable for 0-5s and accompanying siblings from 5-12 years at a discounted rate… your child can play, explore and get muddy as we take part in exciting woodland themed adventures, have fun and get closer to nature. There will be a different Forest School activity each week as well as a variety of activities such as den building, campfire cooking, minibeast safaris, storytelling, woodland games and much more!
We are in the woods come rain or shine and can promise you a toddler group with a difference, where your child has the freedom to explore nature, learn new things and foster a lifelong love of the great outdoors while you get the chance for some great outdoor time with your toddler as well as a cuppa round the campfire and a chat with like minded mums and dads!
We offer 10% discount for siblings.
Birthday Parties – availability throughout the year
Our Woodland Birthday Parties take place in a secret location deep in the woodland at Grammarcombe Woods, Ashcombe Estate, Near Exeter. We’ll make our way to our camp with our Forest School Leader and Assistant, following a blindfold trail to find the secret location. Starting with a game or two to burn off some excited energy, we’ll then gather around the campfire to learn about lighting campfires without matches safely. There will be plenty of opportunity for the children to try out their den building skills and enjoy our new woodland playground and mud kitchen followed by a camouflage hiding game and marshmallow toasting over the campfire. There’s time for delicious campfire sizzling sausages in a roll (if booked), before the party ends with a Happy Birthday song for the Birthday Boy or Girl. Got an older child or have a specific idea for the party? No problem – just let us know. We run events for all ages – children, teens and adults and will adapt our party activities according to the needs and ages of the group. Make their party a really wild one!
We now offer a selection of themed options for your birthday party, if you wish. Please mention in your booking notes if you would like to add a theme to your party!
- Dragons and magic for 5+ years includes a dragon egg hunt, magic wand crafting and our very own potion parlour!
- Fairy and Elf for 4+ years includes a Teddy Trail, crafting Fairy/Elf crowns and moulding Fairy doors from clay.
- Robin Hood for 6+ years includes a wild treasure trail, Robin Hood crafting and Bow and Arrow Target Practice!
- Campfire Cooking and Crafts for 10+ years (Pre-Teen) includes gathering wild wood, cooking campfire treats, a fire lighting challenge and dream catcher crafting. (Must be booked as a party with food.)
- Survival and Camouflage for 10 + years (Pre-Teen) includes gathering and splitting wood, lighting a fire using natural materials, campfire cooking and building survival shelters! (Must be booked as a party with food.)
