Try at home recipe… Chocolate Campfire Biscuits

Many Wild Tots and their parents have been enjoying these delicious chocolate biscuits this week. We cooked them between leaves in a big pan over the fire, but they can also be baked at home in your oven. We always strive to make dairy free recipes for the many dairy free children who attend our groups. The Coconut oil could be replaced with butter.

Ingredients

  • 100g Coconut oil
  • 100g White Sugar
  • 100g Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essense
  • 100g grated cheese
  • 200g Plain Flour
  • 130g Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 50ml Water
  • If cooking over a campfire collect some large Hazel or Beech tree leaves to cook them between

Method

  • Ensure the coconut oil is warm, if not warm slightly until soft. Cream together coconut oil, sugar and vanilla essence
  • Mix in separate bowl flour, cocoa and baking powder
  • At the end bring everything together in large bowl with water to form biscuit dough
  • Form into walnut sized balls, then squash either between two leaves and place in oiled pan on medium heat, or on baking sheet for oven baking
  • In oven cook at 160 for 8 minutes, or until golden
  • On campfire cook until they bubble at the side a bit
  • We cooked them on a campfire so the oven timings are an estimate
