Elderberries are here!

We’re really excited to see all the berries appearing in the hedgerows. We watched and foraged the flowers of the fantastic Elder tree during lockdown and are now happy to see the berries ripening. We posted a recipe for delicious Elderflower cordial and champagne and look forward to sharing our recipe for Elderberry syrup soon.

Elderberries are high in vitamin C, as well as being a good source of potassium and vitamins A and B. They are also said to be high in antioxidants, to strengthen the immune system and to lower cholesterol. They’re an ideal berry to gather in early autumn and use in a syrup to use when those winter colds (or viruses!) come calling. So keep your eyes peeled for your local Elder tree in preparation for autumn foraging this year.
